Since HP Pavilion series have Ralink RTXXXX 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adaptor in it, Microsoft shall not be able to find the update driver of it. May be they don’t have the updated driver in their database. Also, wireless adapter of Ralink is there in many models of HP Pavilion series. Hence, if your laptop is one of the model of them, you can check if your laptop is having one of the following Ralink adapters or not?

Hi, I had a problem with my hp Pavillion model 15-g040ca losing wifi and it wasn’t the driver at all. It was a hardware problem where the wire from the wifi adaptor got cut where it passes up from the base into the screen. I fixed it by bringing the wire outside of the laptop and connecting it to a small antenna. I suspect most of the hp laptops suffer from the same problem when I read other posts on different sites.
