Install Centos 7 On Hp Dl120 Gen9 Server

This is using Rhel 7.3 x64, trying to install in a brand new HP Proliant DL120 Gen9 server. This is using smart array HBA H240 RAID controller to support 2 x 2 tb sas.

Good Day all, I am attempting to install Centos 7 on a fairly old HP ProLiant DL380 G5. The first problem I found was during the installation, I was not able to select the RAID as a destination disk. I was able to solve this issue by add the following lines to the install config: hpsa.hpsa_simple_mode=1 hpsa.hpsa._allow_any=1 After the above I was able to select the correct installation HDD and the installation ran through without problems. After the installation upon restart the server boots to the following line and doesn't move on any further: 'A start job is running for dev-mapper-cl x2droot.device (%time / no limit)' I believe it might be to do with the RAID as with the installation.

I am quite new to Linux:) Thank you in advance Regards Spi Edited May 1, 2017 at 12:03 UTC. File Picture Style Canon. Before we try to troubleshoot CentOS 7 on G5 hardware, we need to ask why this is happening at all. In theory, CentOS should 'never' be installed to bare metal, the lack of drivers should not really be an issue here, at least not on CentOS directly.

Why are you not virtualizing on a new install? Your hypervisor should be abstracting your drivers. Sure, you might run into issues there, but they will be one time and in the HV, not in your OS which should be installed on top of the hypervisor.

Testing details This system was tested with 14.04 LTS, running the 3.13.0-35-generic kernel. Certification notes HPDSA Driver Installation (MAAS) This system requires the HPDSA driver for 'smart array mode'. In order to use systems with Smart Array controllers in 'smart array mode' with MAAS, you will need to modify drivers.yaml to include the hpdsa driver. Instructions for this can be found here: HP ILO and MAAS ILO firmware version 2.30 will not work with MAAS. To use this system in a MAAS environment you will need to update to the latest ILO firmware (greater than version 2.30). If you are using ILO 2.20 or older, you are not affected by this issue.
